We don’t usually just pass along trailers – there are plenty of other places to do that. But this one is just too cool (and promising) to pass by.

Yeah, we saw the pre-lightning Barry Allen in his guest shots on the recently conclude Arrow, and we heard all about the series. Even saw the pictures of the suit. But you just never know about these things. There are so many ways for a superhero TV show to go wrong; the telescape is littered with their bodies.

But this one might actually work. They’ve taken some of the basic Silver Age concepts (getting struck by lightning, drenched in chemicals), added in some more recent comics-based developments (the murder of his mother by a…flash?), the pretty Korean love interest/future wife, and added a few of their own. And basically: it looks cool!

Best of all, as the five-minute trailer shows us, is the inclusion, right from the git-go (as it were) of the beloved Rogues Gallery, the group of local Central City super-villains who make the Scarlet Speedster’s (yes, we said it!) life a living hell. First up, quite clearly: Clyde Mardon (okay, it should be Mark, Clyde’s his dead brother, but even we’re not that geekboyish), the Weather Wizard, with a pretty wonderful representation of his powers and a demo of the Flash’s single greatest stunt: to run around something so fast it goes away.

They really seem to understand but the wonder and weird joy of this character and his world, and even if we weren’t sold on Grant Gustin, some kid from Glee and 90210 as Barry, he’s already growing on us. Besides, what show with both Tom Cavanaugh, Jesse L. Martin, and Danielle Panabaker can be anything but good?

Call us Polyanna, call us pie-in-the-sky, call us gullible fanfolk, but don’t call us late to The Flash premiere this fall. Who knows, we might even recap it. We’re that crazy.
