In a world of too damn many trailers for too damn many horror movies, it’s amazing to see one that actually still scares you — on that isn’t derivative or tired, and one that features actors you’ve never seen in this context before.
But A Quiet Place hits all the right switches. Co-written and directed by John Krasinski — yeah, nice, affable John “The Office” Krasinski — and starring Krasinski and his wife Emily Blunt — yeah, the beautiful and talented Emily Blunt, who’s about to appear in the Disney remake of Mary Poppins — this super-tight four-person drama looks like it has everything it needs to scare the pants right off you.
We don’t need to tell you the premise. The trailer will do that:
Kraskinski isn’t entirely new to directing; he helmed an indie drama called The Hollars a while back, as well as a few episodes of The Office. But who knew he had this kind of stuff swimming around in behind that sweet, smart face?
A Quiet Place premieres at SXSW in early March, and is slated for general release in early April. Make plans to watch it … if you dare.
