There are many, many reasons why people need money and thanks to the current abysmal state of the American economy, our American horror films are beginning to center around financial woes. Here is a terrific overview of “financial horror” from our friend BJ Colangelo and her site Day of the Woman.
BJ ties together Cheap Thrills, 13 Sins, old episodes of Twilight Zone, The House of the Devil, Rites of Spring, American Mary, You’re Next, Would You Rather, I Sell the Dead, Repo: The Genetic Opera — among others! — in a pretty remarkable rant. (And does anyone remember that one of the scariest things in the original The Amityville Horror was the part where George Lutz lost the mortgage payment? Gahhh…)
Enjoy the whole post here, and thanks to BJ for letting us share it. You can join her Twitterfeed here.
