British blogger/tweeter Abigal (@abic1974) posted a great piece in mid-May about Herman Webster Mudgett, the first person in American to be given the label “serial killer.” A “lady-killer” in the worst way, with a “murder castle” all his own – a fiend who was even considered as a candidate for Jack the Ripper – was born a little more than 150 years ago, but the story of his grisly career, and how it became a media sensation and an obsession for law enforcement, sounds strangely – very strangely – familiar. Talk about your real-life horror.
