herculesRatner’s Hercules comes out on DVD/Blu-Ray this week, so we’ll risk repeating ourselves: this movie was marketed as a kick-ass Conan-like fantasy adventure, and it’s not. It’s a lie, and a cynical one at that. We couldn’t say it any better than Rob Bricken on io9, so we won’t spoil any of the ‘good’ stuff you’ll find right here, but … really? Seriously? We agree: everything he says about Ratner is true.

We had low expectations to begin with, but if Rob’s description is even half right – and we suspect it’s more like 99.49% pure – it was even worse than we imagined.

Go there. Read away. And save your money for something else, Anything else. And while you’re at it, follow Rob on Twitter here, tell Charlie Jane Anders, editor of io9.com that this is great stuff here, and follow io9.com itself on Twitter too. We want to be io9.com when we grow up.

As for Hercules: You have been warned.
