Yeah, we’re trying to start a trend. Think of it as the next #FollowFriday, but cool. We’re putting up 5 movies, old and/or new that never got the attention they deserve(d). (Hey, great log line, what?) And two sentences — TWO SENTENCES ONLY — about what the movie, why it’s worthwhile, whatever.

Enough justification: Here’s WEEK 1 of #UnderSunday, and — as always, they’re in no particular order:

BLOODY MARY – The amazing Katharine (Ginger Snaps) Isabelle actually makes you sympathize with an increasingly demented med student who gets way too involved in body modification…and pays the price. On Netflix.

 ABSENTIA- This mysterious, completely unassuming tunnel under the street in your neighborhood seems to  eat people now and then, and now it’s just let loose the slightly crazed version of your husband it ate seven years ago. Quiet, creepy, and on Netflix.

IT’S A DISASTER – An uncomfortable Sunday brunch of four middle-hip couples gets REALLY tense when a biological disaster traps them inside and causes the end of the world. Julia Stiles, David Cross as a secret evangelical — really! — and the coolest non-ending of any EOTWAWKI film this decade. On Netflix.

BIG-ASS SPIDER – Ray Wise and Greg Grunberger are the only two people you’ll recognize in this funny, fast, smart modern-day monster movie. It’s about time a huge spider tried to eat L.A. Amazon Instant Video for $3.99

WE ARE WHAT WE ARE – VERY serious EXCEEDINGLY moist look at really, really bad family dynamics and modern day cannibalism. Nice to see Kelly McGinnis and Michael Parks working, and being good. Amazon Instant Video for $4.99
