The-Message-podcast-logo-300x188Really good audio drama is hard to come by. Good science fiction – especially ‘soft’ science, speculating more on the mind and soul than physics or history, is even harder to find. Which makes The Message.

This original new podcast, less than fifteen minutes long in each episode, is only eight installments old – and seriously, we’re not sure there will be more. As it is, the quiet and disturbing story about a group of cryptographers trying to decode what might be a message from outside the solar system – a message intercepts and kept secret (or lost? For more than fifty years – is beautiful written, wonderfully performed and so completely ‘meta’ it may actually change the way you think about audio drama.

Yeah, it really can be this good.

Produced by Panoply Media, who already work with the big boys like Slate, Sports Illustrated, and Huffington Post, and sponsored as part of a new venture from General Electric, you’ll find it strangely exciting, startling, and entirely unexpected. Set aside a little more than an hour to eat the first eight episodes alive, and see if you don’t agree.
