Cosplay, as we’re slowly learning, isn’t just about the meticulous re-creation of an iconic figure from film, gaming, or comics. Just as often it’s re-inventing those same images and coming up with something entirely new.

Here’s a great example – one of many from the much-respected photographer Knightmare6, the nom de photographie of Phillip Ng of New York. Ng has spent the last five years and more building up a reputation for his pretty amazing work. He calls himself a photographer, casual cosplayer, Goonie, Asian, Foodie, Whovian, Transfan, part-time Goth and Cobra-aficionado in his twitter profile, right here.

As for his work: You got your steampunk. You got you Star Wars. Whack ‘em together and you get a rather amazing Steampunk Vader. One of a kind and well worth it:
